7 Day / 6 Night Irish Road Tour 2024

Welcome to our 7 day Irish Road Tour. We are booked out for 2023, but we are now taking bookings for 2024. The following is only a recommendation as you will decide the length of your tour and the level of accommodation you wish to enjoy. Whatever you choose, the tour begins and ends in Dublin and throughout you will be staying in great locations and savouring unique local pubs and restaurants. Our mission is to give you the best possible experience and an unforgettable holiday. Please contact us via email to discuss your vacation. Please note: this is a unique itinerary and we can modify the tour to include Northern Ireland, and a trip to Skellig Michael.

Day 1

We begin our Irish Road Tour with a panoramic tour of Dublin. Some of the highlights include O’Connell Street and the GPO, The Custom House, Trinity College, Christ Church, St Patricks Cathedral and Áras an Uachtaráin (residence of our President). We then take the road west to Galway, also known as City of the Tribes, where you can visit one or two of our favourite pubs for traditional Irish music. Overnight in Galway.

Day 2

Today we tour Connemara and visit Killary Harbour, Leenane (we’ll tell you about The Field over a pint in Gaynors), the impossibly romantic Kylemore Abbey and the quaint village of Cong in Co. Mayo (home of The Quiet Man). Overnight in Galway.

Day 3

We continue south to the wilds of County Clare where we will visit Poulnabrone Dolmen, one of Ireland’s most iconic archaeological monuments, and take a guided tour of the Ailwee Caves before pausing for lunch via a secret faerie wood (you think we’re joking?). We wind our way down the coast to the iconic Cliffs of Moher and afterwards head south to cross the mighty Shannon estuary by ferry. Check into the lively town of Killarney for the night.

Day 4

This is the day for the Dingle Peninsula and the epic Slea Head Drive. Along the way we visit famine era cottages, 2500 year old Dún Beag Fort and Ionad an Bhlascaoid Mhóir - the Blasket Centre. And you might just spot the film location of Ryan’s Daughter, Star Wars and Far and Away! The Dingle Peninsula would not be complete without a stop at the enigmatic Gallarus Oratory before we take you to Brandon Creek where Brendan the Navigator set off to discover The Garden of Eden. He found America (we say), and the feasibility of his trip was proven by Tim Severn who sailed from the very same creek in 1976. More of that on tour. Overnight in Killarney.

Day 5

Today we tour the magnificent Ring of Kerry. We thought long and hard about including the famous Ring of Kerry in our road tour, but despite being a heavily tramped tourist trail we decided it was too beautiful not to include in the tour. Don’t worry though, we have a few tricks up our sleeves to avoid the masses. Overnight in Killarney.

Day 6

Our sixth day begins with a tear or two, but we’re not quite finished with you yet. Before we depart for Dublin we take a whiskey tasting tour of the famous Jameson Distillery at Middleton. We then drive north to Cashel of the Kings, also known as The Rock of Cashel, traditional seat of the kings of Munster. Overnight in Dublin.

Day 7

The tour officially ends after breakfast, but we’ve structured your tour to offer you free time to explore the sights and delights of Dublin, or spend some time shopping. We recommend a visit to the Guinness Storehouse and the Book of Kells in Trinity College, and we have a list of other exciting places you might like to visit.

Tour Price 2022:

The cost of your tour will depend on the type of accommodation you wish to include. We can book anything from good three-star hotels to fabulous castles. We can also offer a mixture of accommodation throughout your tour.
